Project Overview
Client Brief
Working with Interior Designer Dita Nicholls, plans were drawn up to completely renovate the kitchen, main bathroom, powder room and laundry.
New timber flooring was laid downstairs and new carpets on the upper level.
Storage capacity was increased by clever use of space and beautiful joinery.
We installed gas supply to the residence, installed a new Instant Hot Water service, and then a gas fireplace.
Finally painting was done throughout to finish the stunning clean new look.
Project Obstacles
After pulling up the old ground floor materials a large water ponding issue was uncovered – something that can lead to wet rot and mould. We determined that the natural ground rock levels fell to a low spot specifically under the apartment, and that the existing drainage line didn’t quite run low enough to the rock shelf.
We were able to remediate the issue by redirecting the water with a pipe that ran to the stormwater pit and then to the street gutter.
